New Delhi, June 14: Faridul Hassan, an esteemed member of the APEC Lab, has achieved a remarkable feat by receiving the prestigious Indo German Science Technology Centre (IGSTC) - PhD Industrial Exposure Fellowship (PIEF). Hailing from Bihar, Faridul Hassan is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at NIT Silchar. The momentous fellowship was bestowed upon him during the recent 13th foundation day celebration of IGSTC in New Delhi. Among numerous candidates from various Indian institutions, Faridul Hassan emerged as one of the ten distinguished fellows.

Under this esteemed fellowship, Faridul Hassan will conduct his groundbreaking research at the renowned Fraunhofer-Institut für Solare Energiesysteme ISE (Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems) in Freiburg, Germany, with full sponsorship provided by IGSTC. The Indo-German Science & Technology Centre (IGSTC), jointly established by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), Government of Germany, aims to inspire young researchers to engage in applied research.

This program specifically targets PhD students and researchers in the field of Science & Technology, with a notable track record and a passion for applied research and technology development. The fellowship serves as an invaluable opportunity for young Indian researchers to gain exposure to German industrial ecosystems and applied research institutions, thereby fostering bilateral partnership between the two countries.

The momentous Foundation Day event witnessed the presence of distinguished individuals, including R Madhan, Director of IGSTC, Annapurni Subramaniam, Director of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), the esteemed chief guest for the occasion, S K Varshney, Head of the International Cooperation Division (ICD) at the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Co-chair of IGSTC, and Stephan Grabherr, Charge d'Affaires of the German Embassy in Delhi.
